Pentagon expects to fire more than 5,000 civilian probationary employees starting next week
The first firings of Defense Department civilian probationary employees are expected to start next week, with about 5,400 set to be released as the Pentagon anticipates reducing its civilian workforce by 5-8%.
"We ask that you gather your personal belongings and exit the premises by 3 p.m. ET as well," an official on the call said.
