San Francisco — A federal court hearing is scheduled for Thursday on whether the Trump administration can use the National Guard and Marines to assist with immigration raids in Los Angeles.

The California Governor has sued the U.S. President over the mobilization of the National Guard, calling it “an unmistakable step toward authoritarianism.”

A judge will hear arguments Thursday over California’s request to limit the scope of the National Guard and Marines’ mission in Los Angeles as demonstrations continue over immigration enforcement operations.

President Donald Trump, Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville, and other members of the GOP have been calling for Newsom’s arrest since he claimed the federal government was overstepping its bounds when Trump activated the National Guard to maintain order in Los Angeles after riots erupted in response to ICE raids targeting undocumented immigrants.

Newsom is widely viewed as a likely presidential candidate. The new video shows the Democrat fashioning himself as the leader of the Trump resistance.
