Ryne Sandberg, a Hall of Fame second baseman who became one of baseball’s best all-around players while starring for the Chicago Cubs, has died.

"Jed and his baseball operations staff have built a healthy player development organization and put an exciting, playoff contending team on the field," he said.

Its Tuesday, July 29 and the battle for the top spot in the National League Central continues tonight in Milwaukee as the Cubs (62-44) take on the Brewers (63-43). Colin Rea is slated to take the mound for Chicago against Quinn Priester for Milwaukee.
