Measles infections reported in Lea County tripled last week from 10 to 30 as the viral outbreak that caused at least one adult’s death continued to spread, and health officials increased their investigations to uncover more cases of the disease.

The measles outbreak in western Texas is continuing to grow with a total of 223 cases confirmed, according to new data published Tuesday.

New Mexico health officials confirmed a new measles case in Eddy County, the first case outside of Lea County since the outbreak began.

Three more cases of measles have been confirmed in New Mexico, the New Mexico Department of Health announced Tuesday. Eddy County saw its first case of 2025, and Lea County, which has reported most of the cases,
