Guo Qingshan took a photo of a mountain shaped like a dog’s head and snout while visiting his hometown of Yichang in central China in late January, the Associated Press reported.

A mountain resembling the head of a dog has become the latest tourist hotspot in China. The cliff face, now affectionately known as ‘Puppy Mountain’, overlooks the Yangtze River in Yichang, in central China’s Hubei province.

When Shanghai-based designer Guo Qingshan posted a vacation photo on Valentine’s Day and captioned it “Puppy Mountain,” it became a sensation in China and even created a tourist destination. Guo had gone on a hike while visiting his hometown of Yichang in central China’s Hubei province in late January.

Tourists began to flock to a mountainside in China after a social media user pointed out that it looks like a dog’s head. The viral post, on Chinese social media app Xiaohongshu, created a new pilgrimage site for dog-lovers and people started to visit the Xiling Gorge,

Dog owners have posted pictures of their dogs in the same position, and many people are traveling to the location to see it for themselves.
