Dutch police nab suspects linked to Saturday’s heist at the Drents Museum, where thieves stole the 2,500-year-old Helmet of Coțofenești, an object treasured by Romanians.

Police in the Netherlands have arrested three people linked to a heist that saw thieves blow open a museum door with explosives before stealing four priceless ancient artifacts.

The police said they had yet to recover the golden helmet of Cotofenesti, a prized artifact from Romania, and other artifacts stolen from the Drents Museum in the Netherlands over the weekend.

Bernhard Z., one of three suspects in custody for stealing golden Romanian cultural artifacts from the Drents Museum on Saturday, was previously convicted of a violent home invasion in Heerhugowaard in which he and his accomplices tied up and threatened two young children.

Thieves responsible for the Drents Museum heist left with a gold Coțofenești helmet and three Dacian royal bracelets, the museum said.
