Hundreds of demonstrators were marching the streets of Los Angeles on the same day as a nationwide movement protesting President Donald Trump's plans for mass deportations.

As demonstrations in the “Day Without Immigrants” protests in downtown Los Angeles continued into the evening, tensions between protesters and police appeared to increase with authorities issuing an unlawful assembly and dispersal order Monday evening.

Demonstrators rallied on Minneapolis’ East Lake Street — a vibrant corridor of Mexican, Somali and other immigrant-owned businesses — packing the area on a grey and cold winter afternoon. They carried signs reading “All are welcome here” and “Immigrants Make America Great.

LA protesters gathered near City Hall, while in those in Santa Ana converged near the federal courthouse. The demonstrations were smaller than Sunday’s, which drew thousands.

The large group, calling for a National Day of Action, could be seen through aerial footage walking in the middle of Spring Street, moving along to block an intersection at Chick Hearn Court and 11th Street all the while waving Mexico flags and carrying protest signs.
