New York Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani, a socialist, and City Comptroller Brad Lander endorsed each other on Friday, the day after the final debate for the New York City mayoral Democratic primary, in hopes that they can beat front-runner former Gov.

With little over one week left until the mayoral primary, Zohran Mamdani’s momentum against Andrew Cuomo is drawing widespread opposition to stop him from winning the Democratic nomination and likely City Hall.

Bloomberg was never a great fan of Cuomo, and his own endorsement of the ex-governor wasn’t terribly enthusiastic. But Bloomberg is a strong supporter of Israel and firmly opposed to the progressive left. Mamdani, who is strongly pro-tenant and very critical of the finance and real estate worlds, represents all that Bloomberg loathes.
