Crews continue to battle the human-caused Bear Gulch Fire in Mason County, which has been burning for a month as of Wednesday.

MASON COUNTY, Wash. — Officials say the Bear Gulch fire will keep burning until winter, and it’s still growing. The priority now is keeping flames away from homes. Overnight, the fire grew by about 1,200 acres, mostly in remote terrain, and fire crews say they’ll need help from Mother Nature to put it out.

An air quality advisory has been issued for Mason County as the Bear Gulch Fire continues to burn north of Lake Cushman. According to Watch Duty, the fire has burned more than 5,500 acres since it was first reported on July 6.
