China's Commerce Ministry on Tuesday vowed to retaliate against fresh U.S. import tariffs set to take effect later in the day, reiterating its stance that the Trump administration was trying to "shift the blame" and "bully" Beijing over fentanyl flows.

President Trump has doubled tariffs on China to 20% and confirmed 25% duties on imports from Mexico and Canada, citing fentanyl trafficking and trade imbalances.

China’s officials condemned President Trump for his decision to add a 10 percent tariff on Chinese imports over the country’s alleged complicity in the international smuggling of fentanyl, a deadly synthetic drug.

Trump's new tariff threat are of fresh tariffs which come in addition to the previous 10 per cent one levied on February 4.
