Scattered severe thunderstorms are expected across Massachusetts Sunday afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service. Damaging winds are predicted to be the primary hazard during these late-in-the-day storms, but some hail is possible as well, according to the weather service.

The chances for severe thunderstorms Sunday are higher in northern New Jersey counties. Damaging wind is the main concern, but localized flooding is also possible.

EDT the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning in effect until 5:15 p.m. EDT for Kent and Ottawa counties.

Damaging wind gusts and small hail are possible as thunderstorms move in Sunday afternoon.

On Sunday at 5:15 a.m. a flash flood warning was issued by the National Weather Service in effect until 9:15 a.m. for Monmouth and Ocean counties.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington, Ohio, says thunderstorms heading toward Columbus bring risk of flooding in some areas.
