Gov. Phil Murphy wrote a letter to the president saying that the surcharge on drivers entering Manhattan’s busiest area was a “disaster” for commuters and residents in his state.

The MTA released a report Monday showing traffic heading into New York City was down a week after the new congestion pricing plan went into effect.

While commercial trucks entering Manhattan will be charged depending on the truck size and time of day, there are workarounds.

In a letter to Trump, Murphy urged the president to "re-examine" congestion pricing, claiming that it was never "well-designed or adequately studied."

The plan, which launched on Jan. 5, newly charges passenger vehicles $9 to access Manhattan below 60th Street during peak hours.
