Miss Austen will star Line of Duty's Keeley Hawes as Jane Austen's sister Cassandra, as well as Game of Thrones actress Rose Leslie and Jessica Hynes

Keeley is set to portray Jane Austen's sister, Cassandra Austen, in the star-studded adaptation of Gill Hornby's novel, Miss Austen. The four-part series, scheduled for release on BBC One in 2025, will commemorate 250 years since the celebrated author's birth.

The BBC has released new pictures for Miss Austen, a star-studded production of Gill Hornby’s best-selling novel of the same name, produced by Bonnie Productions for MASTERPIECE, in association with the BBC.

Adapted from Gill Hornby's best-selling novel of the same name, the story is told from Cassandra Austen's perspective, the sister of Jane Austen, and is set decades after Jane's death in which an elderly Cassandra recalls her youth and relationship with her late sibling.

Phyllis Logan ( Downton Abbey, Shetland ), Max Irons ( Condor, The Wife ), and and Liv Hill ( The Serpent Queen, Elizabeth Is Missing) are also seen in their roles for the first time. Jessica Hynes (Life After Life, Years and Years), and Kevin McNally (The Crown, Ten Percent) also star across the costume drama.

Bodyguard and Line of Duty star Hawes takes on the lead role of Cassandra, who is described as "a character as captivating as any Austen heroine," while Leslie (Game of Thrones, Vigil) stars as Isabella Fowle, the niece of Cassandra's long-dead fiancé.
