British singer Ed Sheeran’s live performance on Church Street was halted by the Bengaluru police on Sunday. The police stated that they had not given permission for the event, while Sheeran’s team claimed it was a brief act with prior approval.

The police pulled the plug on the gig, which was being held at Church Street, when the Grammy winner was midway into the performance of his chartbuster “Shape of You”.

While in the middle of singing "Shape of You," a police officer unplugged Sheeran's microphone, resulting in shocked reactions from the crowd.

Ed Sheeran was recently stopped by police from performing on the street in the southern Indian city of Bengaluru, with authorities claiming he didn't have the necessary permission to do so.
