Tottenham Hotspur have triggered the option to extend captain Son Heung-min’s contract until 2026. The 32-year-old’s existing deal had been due to expire at the end of the 2024-25 campaign, meaning he would have been free to sign a pre-contract agreement with an overseas club from this January.
Heung-min Son had the privilege of sharing a dressing room and playing with Ruud van Nistelrooy during his time at Hamburg SV. Son has become a top player at Tottenham, signing for the English giants all the way back in 2015. But Heung Min-Son first made his way to Europe by joining Hamburg from FC Seoul in 2008.

Tottenham Hotspur confirmed on Monday that Son Heung-min's current deal has been extended until the summer of 2026. "We are delighted to announce that we have exercised the option to extend Heung-Min Son’s contract, which will now run until the summer of 2026," Tottenham said in a statement.
