Governor Kristi Noem of South Dakota is currently interviewing to be the next Secretary of Homeland Security. She would replace Biden’s pick, Alejandro Mayorkas, who I believe to be the worst secretary of homeland security in this country’s history.

But another major issue Noem plans to tackle is cybersecurity infrastructure, including reigning in the recent anti-misinformation efforts by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), which she says is a deviation from its core mission and an endangerment to Americans’ civil liberties.

Separately in the hearing, Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) claimed Alejandro Mayorkas, the DHS secretary under President Joe Biden, had “allowed” around 400 people on the terrorism watch list, formally known as the “terrorist screening data set,” to “come into this country illegally.” Noem cited similar figures.

Trump tapped Noem to serve as his homeland security secretary only a week after winning the election in November.

WASHINGTON — South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem faced senators Friday as she vies to lead the federal agency that will carry out President-elect Donald Trump's promise to conduct the largest deportation program in U.S. history.

Kristi Noem, the nominee to lead the Department of Homeland Security, called the U.S. southern border a ‘war zone’ and said her chief mission at the helm of the department would be to get a handle on the immigration crisis.

Doreen P. Greenwald, president of the National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU) that represents some DHS workers, said they “benefited from Secretary Mayorkas’ understanding of the importance of employee morale, resiliency and work-life balance,” and praised him for working “to provide employees with additional health and safety resources.”

So far, Kristi Noem appears to have strong backing from GOP senators who will be crucial to her confirmation as head of the Department of Homeland Security.
