A simmering feud between New York Gov. Kathy Hochul and her number two, Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado, has boiled over. After months of public discord, Delgado on Monday released a statement saying he won’t be on the governor’s reelection ticket next year and hinting that he might actually challenge her for the governor’s office.
Hochul’s spokesperson, Anthony Hogrebe, struck at the theme by saying Delgado has been uninterested in doing the job of lieutenant governor, which means advancing her agenda. Echoing Faso, a senior Hochul aide said Delgado speaks in “flummery,” without substance.
