One person has died and thousands of others are under evacuation orders in Australia’s northeast after intense rain triggered dangerous flash floods that have inundated homes and businesses.
Many areas got more than an inch of rain by Friday afternoon, and water management crews were keeping a close eye on levels at area stormwater storage systems.
Heavy rain is forecast to continue drenching soaked catchments across North Queensland for at least another day as thousands flee from floods that have already claimed one life.
