President Trump said Tuesday that he may call out the National Guard to help with security at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.

Trump’s vow to use the National Guard or military follows his dispatch of troops to Los Angeles in response to protests of ICE raids. His decision to federalize the guard was opposed by California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, who said that the show of federal force instead inflamed the situation.

President Donald Trump on Tuesday signed an executive order to form a security task force for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, and threatened to again deploy the military and National Guard. "We'll do anything necessary to keep the Olympics safe, including using our National Guard or military," Trump said.
