The New York Yankees have placed star outfielder Aaron Judge on the 10-day injured list with a flexor strain in his right elbow, an injury he suffered during a 9-4 home loss to the Philadelphia Phillies in Friday’s series opener. Though significant, the injury is less devastating than initially feared.
The two-time AL MVP has a flexor strain in his right elbow but no acute damage to his ulnar collateral ligament that might cause a long-term layoff.
Aaron Judge is dealing with elbow pain, so the New York Yankees benched the reigning AL MVP against the Philadelphia Phillies as he awaits test results.
The Yankees have had a need for a third baseman since releasing DJ LeMahieu and moving Jazz Chisholm back to the keystone. As of late, manager Aaron Boone has used a combination of Oswald Peraza and Jorbit Vivas at the hot corner. Clearly New York, now 4 ½ games back in the American League East, was not satisfied with that arrangement.
