California utility company Southern California Edison on Thursday said its equipment “may be associated with” the ignition of the Hurst Fire, which burned alongside the Eaton and Palisades fires during January’s Los Angeles firestorms.

Southern California Edison said in a filing submitted to state utility regulators Thursday that its equipment likely started the Hurst Fire in Sylmar last month. The utility company’s admission comes after it acknowledged that fire agencies are investigating whether its equipment may have started the Hurst Fire,

"The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and SCE continues to cooperate with authorities," the utility agency wrote.
