Olympic champions Gabriella Papadakis and Madison Hubbell on Thursday took to the ice at a figure skating gala in Zurich trying to "push the limit" of the sport as a first same-sex pair to skate together in an elite event.

Retired Olympic champions Madison Hubbell and Gabriella Papadakis plan to skate together at events in a bid to help pave the way for same-sex pairs to compete officially. France's Papadakis won gold at the 2022 Beijing Games with male partner Guillaume Cizeron in ice dancing,

Two world renowned ice skaters are using their retirement to push for same-sex skating pairs to be permitted in major competitions. And they’re doing so by skating together. Gabriella Papadakis and Madison Hubbell are returning to the ice as part of the Art on Ice Gala throughout Switzerland in February.

Madison Hubbell and Gabriella Papadakis, retired Olympic champions, are teaming up to perform as same-sex pairs on ice, aiming to challenge gender stereotypes in figure skating. They hope to inspire change in the sport where traditionally only male-female pairs competed.
