ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on Wednesday that the New York Knicks are expected to hire former Cavs head coach Mike Brown. The Knicks, fresh off a loss in six games in the Eastern Conference Finals to the Indiana Pacers, fired head coach Tom Thibodeaux. They hired Brown, who has coached the Cavs, Lakers and Kings, to replace him.

As the New York Knicks made the hiring of Mike Brown as the new head coach official earlier this week, many wondered why things fell apart during the end of his tenure as head coach of the Sacramento Kings. From his midseason departure to this past week, Brown was out of a job with an unclear future.

Brown was named coach of the Cavs in the summer of 2005. They went to the playoffs in his first season and in 2007, the Cavs beat the Detroit Pistons to make the Eastern Conference Finals. The Cavs won more than 60 games in Brown's final two years with the team, eventually being fired in 2010 for not being able to get the team over the hump.
