The much-anticipated release of Shrek 5 has been delayed for a second time. DreamWorks Animation originally scheduled the sequel for next summer, but pushed it back to December 2026. It has now shifted the release back further to June 2027,

It’s a six-month delay from the previously announced December 23, 2026, release date and about one year removed from the original July 1, 2026, premiere plan. DreamWorks and Universal refrained from sharing the reason behind their decision to push Shrek 5 to its new June 2027 release date.

Universal has changed the release date of Shrek 5, the first new Shrek movie in nearly two decades, from the fall of 2026 to summer 2027.
