Officer David Rose died on Friday while responding to an active shooter near the campuses of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Emory University.

The mother of the officer killed in the shooting targeting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said he would put his life on the line again if it meant saving lives. “He would do it again.

Officer David Rose, 33, was shot while responding to the gunfire, the DeKalb County Police Department said in a news release. He was transported to nearby Emory University Hospital where he died of his injuries. Newsweek has contacted the police department for further comment via email.
