Acting Pittsburgh Police Chief Christopher Ragland has withdrawn his name from the nomination process, and will not become the permanent bureau police chief, sources have told KDKA-TV. Ragland has decided to leave the bureau altogether.

The City of Pittsburgh and Mayor Ed Gainey are back to square one in the search for a permanent police chief, and now accusations of quid pro quo are being thrown around amid the fallout. KDKA's Andy Sheehan has more.

Sources close to the process told us that Ragland was getting pressure from city council members about who he should promote to be his assistant chief.
