Archaeologists in Cambodia are celebrating an unexpected find at the country’s centuries-old Angkor temple complex: the torso of a statue of Buddha that matches a head found nearly a century ago at the same site.

Archaeologists have unearthed the torso of a centuries-old Buddha statue that matches a head unearthed a century ago at the same site in Cambodia. The centuries-old statue, which is believed to date back to as early as the 12th century, was discovered during an excavation at Ta Prohm temple near the city of Siem Reap last month.

The ANA said that the excavations at Ta Prohm yielded significant archaeological findings, including the body of a Buddha statue.

According to archaeologists, the head of the same statue was dug up in 1927 and is now in Cambodia's National museum in the capital Phnom Penh. The two parts may be reattached for display. View on eur
